We have these moments...TODAY....

My Cuban roses...

For we have this moment to hold in our hands,
And to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;
Yesterday's gone, and tomorrow may never come,
But we have this moment, today.

Excerpted from the song, "Moments" by Bill and Gloria Gaither. 1975.

Slept pretty much the whole day, 'been tired lately. 'was happy with how the massage therapist worked hard in ploughing through and kneading my shoulder muscles the other night. There were times when I flinched and winced from the force but the determined, perceptive-enough bloke didn't pay any attention; just went on and on 'til the muscles seemed to have yielded and softened from its rock-like stance - hey that was the goal and it sure worked! I'm so much more relaxed (read: better mood) from improved blood circulation. Got up at about 7 pm and walked around downtown, had deep fried red snapper in ginger n' lime sauce dinner with fried rice at Saigon's and proceeded to Indigo to read a bit. Now I'm back home sippin' wine and simply chillin' out....

Couldn't sleep last night, ate too much cocoa powder while reading (in bed) these fashion magazines I've been indulging on lately.. Muntik na akong mabilaukan but for reasons known only to the depressed gluttons, that poor can of cocoa powder didn't hear a spoon screech 'til the break of dawn, as I finally bid the state of wakefulness "adieu."

Been spoiling Pops with CDs lately, mind you, you probably wouldn't recognize the singers, not unless you took a class in pop music history from the 19th century. Like have you heard of Vernon Dalhart, Kate Smith and the famous songs of their era - How I Wish I has Someone to Love Me, Carolina Moon, Beautiful Ohio, etc.? These songs were recorded in the '20s and recently remastered in CD format for avid fans of the vintage easy listening genre. Apparently, Pops developed a strong sense for music while listening to his mother singing these songs (and not from the radio as they didn't have any) growing up. To own the recorded mediums would be a dream come true for this poor rural boy then. And I'm one to make dreams come true, if I can help and afford it that is...:). So yeah I made a thorough research on the net and just this week alone, I ordered 5 CDs in all for shipment to NV. As an extra treat, I included Bill Gaither's "All Time Favorite Hymns" CD in one of the packages. I just love Gaither songs and so do Pop. And for as long as I keep Popsie happy, Momsie's kept happy too.....:). Naiiwasan ang angil-angilan...sigh.:).

Yeah, and I need to be thoughtful to Momsie too (she always claims she has everything she needs and for me to save my money instead of indulging 'em). Yet, come to think of it, I seldom gave Mom anything while she deserves so much more! Let's see if I could squeeze in something special in my already super tight budget for her birthday in October. Will definitely do that.

Bill and Gloria have been singing lullabies to me lately, they're a gift to the land of Christendom and I'm pretty sure the Father's heart warms up lots while thinkin' 'bout 'em. Indeed, let's take every moment we're granted to let our loved ones know we love 'em, by acting on it.

Faith or Love without works afterall is really, nothing.

Moments

Hold tight to the sound of the music of living
-Happy songs from the laughter of children at play;
Hold my hand as we run through the sweet fragrant meadows,
Making mem'ries of what was today.

Tiny voice that I hear is my little girl calling
For Daddy to hear just what she has to say;
And my little son running there down the hillside,
May never be quite like today.

Tender words, gentle touch, and a good cup of coffee,
And someone that loves me and wants me to stay;
Hold them near while they're here, and don't wait for tomorrow
To look back and wish for today.

Take the blue of the sky and the green of the forest,
The gold and the brown of the freshly-mown hay,
Add the pale shades of spring and the circus of autumn,
And weave you a lovely today.

For we have this moment to hold in our hands,
And to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;
Yesterday's gone, and tomorrow may never come,
But we have this moment, today.

- Lyrics by Gloria Gaither. Music by William J. Gaither. © 1975.
